How to Make a Slow Month Work for You

(Not Against You)

How to make a slow month work for you

We’ve all had them; those “nothing’s moving” weeks where the phone is quiet, the inbox is stale, and even your go-to lenders are posting more memes than listings.

But here’s the secret most agents won’t tell you: these slow months can be golden if you know how to use them.

Instead of feeling like you’ve lost momentum, let’s reframe this lull as your built-in reset button, a chance to quietly strengthen your business behind the scenes while everyone else is stressing out or checking out.

Here are four low-effort ways to make a slow month work for you and not against you:

Circle Back with Past Clients (Casually)

Forget fancy templates. This is about reconnecting like a human. Send 3-5 quick, genuine messages, voice notes, DM, or text. Something like:

  • “Hey! October always makes me think about home and comfort and I just wanted to say I hope yours is feeling extra cozy this season.”
  • No pitch. Just presence. It keeps you top of mind, and honestly? It just feels good.
Pick One Day for a Mini Content Batching Sprint

Don’t try to “do content” every day. Choose one quiet morning to create 3-5 short posts:

  • A behind-the-scenes snap of your desk or day
  • A photo from a favorite showing this year
  • A short story about a win or a lesson
  • A client testimonial or kind text
  • A seasonal message (even just a cozy fall quote)

You’re not trying to be viral. You’re staying visible. Done in 90 minutes, tops.

Do a 30-Minute Systems Sweep

This isn’t about redoing your whole CRM. This is the glance-and-tidy version. Set a timer for 30 minutes and ask:

  • Is my email signature up to date?
  • Do I have leads that need a nudge?
  • Are there any stale autoresponders I can freshen up?
  • Is my bio still “me”?

This is a low-stakes way to polish your business without overhauling it.

Reward Yourself with a Win You Can Control

Slow seasons make you feel out of control. So pick one thing that feels like a win and do it -today.

  • Drop off a pop-by gift
  • Book lunch with a referral partner
  • Update your voicemail to sound more like you
  • Organize your desktop (or delete 3,000 screenshots 🙃)
Action = traction. Even a small move can flip your mindset.

October is a funny month—it teases the end of the year but still holds room for surprise wins. So instead of resisting the quiet, use it.

Let it soften the pace, bring back your clarity, and remind you that slow doesn’t mean stuck.

You’ve got this. And if you ever need ideas to keep things moving? I’m here, cheering you on behind the scenes.
